My name is Judith Hind. This is me, seen in fairly typical pose (with a pint), outside the Fonda Etxeberria in Arizkun (Pays Basque) in 2004.
Mike and I have taken most of our holidays in the Pyrenees since we first discovered them in 1980. We missed out a few years when our son Pete was little, we've been distracted by the Alps a couple of times, and in 2007 we memorably visited Japan, but on the whole we are faithful. And one of the reasons we keep going back is the flowers.
I've been photographing the flowers since 1980, but only in 2002 did Mike buy me a new digital camera. Previously we had a Pentax 110 format SLR, which was tiny and very light, but after all the photos are only 110 format, and probably not worth publishing. So these are the photos I've taken since 2002.
They are just the photos I take along the way. I don't have a special camera - it's a Nikon Coolpix 775, getting on a bit now - and if I had any additional equipment I wouldn't be able to carry it. I can't take lots of photos and pick the best, because a) the camera would run out of battery, b) my flash card(s) would run out of space and c) my companions would run out of patience. I'm nearly always hampered by a big rucksack, which I only take off for special rarities. And the best and rarest flowers always turn up at dawn (or dusk).
Those are the excuses - hope you enjoy the photos.
